If you have a GDI or a gasoline direct injection engine, you should do BG’s GDI service.
These engines are notorious for carbon build-up. This carbon build-up damages valves and piston rings and can lead to severe oil consumption or a broken valve. Trust me; I’ve been through this with a 2010 Audi A4.
Most manufacturers are pushing the envelope on maintenance intervals on new cars. In fact, in some cases they are stretching out to 15,000 miles. This sounds stupid to me. What I recommend is to change your oil every 5000 miles with good quality synthetic motor oil like Mobil1. I use Mobil1 oil and Wix oil filters http://www.wixfilters.com/. I do this on my own vehicles regardless of what the factory says the interval should be Even on my diesel engines. This is one sure-fire way to increase the life and value of your car. When you go to trade your car, and you have all of your service records, you will probably get much more for your trade that in if you didn’t. In some cases, you can get enough money to more than pay for all of your oil changes. Not only that, but you won’t be stuck with the bill for a $4000 engine!

Mobil 1 & eHow: Conventional vs Synthetic
You really have to understand the motivation and the agenda of the factories when it comes to preventative vehicle maintenance. They are under so much pressure from the federal government to increase fuel economy and reduce the amount of fossil fuels that they use. Engines have changed so that they can squeak every ounce of energy out of a gallon of fuel while creating the highest specific output/horsepower. They have made tremendous strides by changing the way that they traditionally build engines. One technology that we are seeing more and more of is GDI or Gasoline Direct Injection. This technology has created huge fuel economy gains and horsepower gains. In fact, there are some four-cylinder engines creating more horsepower than V8’s di 15 years ago. One of the inherent flaws of GDI is Carbon buildup on both the valves and the piston rings. Carbon buildup is Oil consumption. Audi and VW say in service bulletins that acceptable oil consumption is one quart per 1000 miles. Their oil change interval is 10000 on a new Audi A4. The oil capacity on a new A4 is 4.9 quarts. So if it is acceptable to lose 1 quart per 1000 miles and your drain interval is 10000 miles for severe service… Are you scratching your head like I am??? Not only that, but the damn things don’t even have a dipstick!!! The onboard computer measures the oil level and alerts you when you get low. By the way, good synthetic oil that meets Audi’s specification is at least $9.00 per quart. If the oil consumption on an Audi gets below that 1000 mile per quart threshold, you have to replace the pistons and rings to the tune of about $5,000. FIVE GRAND!!! And if you have to replace the engine it’s about $12,000. FOR A FOUR CYLINDER ENGINE!!! One sure-fire way to make these new engines last longer is BG’s GDI Service. GDI stands for Gasoline Direct Injection. This service includes an engine cleaner to clean the carbon, an oil additive, and a fuel system cleaner. I recommend this service every 5000 miles with a good quality oil filter and Mobil1 oil on any Gasoline Direct Injection engine.
